Rotations

Build the rotation once.

Police schedules repeat. Shift Ready lays the rotation out for months ahead, and everything that changes from day to day is handled around it.

  • 12-hour A/B groups and Pitman rotations, with your choice of which days make the 3-day stretch.
  • 8-hour short day on 12-hour schedules, on the weekday you pick, to bring a Pitman cycle from 84 hours to 80.
  • Any shift, any hours: 8, 10 and 12-hour shifts, split shifts, school and admin hours, in as many groups as you need, with your own team names.
  • Schedule changes planned ahead and published on a date, with a notice to every officer whose shift changes.
  • Move people between shifts in a few taps. Pick the new shift, team or beat and the date it starts; earlier weeks stay as they were.
  • Remove a shift entered in error and put it back, with a notice to the officer.

Set the minimum for patrol by time of day. Requests show whether patrol stays covered before anyone approves them.

Time off and overtime

Requests from the officer's phone. A red number for the supervisor.

Officers send time off and report overtime from their phone. Supervisors see a red number on Schedule until every request is decided, and overtime is listed first so it is never missed.

Every kind of leave

Vacation, sick, holiday, comp time, training, jury duty, bereavement and flex days, for a full shift or part of one.

Court dates

Enter the subpoena times. Court outside the shift is paid as court overtime with your department's minimum hours.

Overtime reports

Officers report overtime with the date, times and reason. Once approved, it is on the schedule and in the hours.

Closed days and holidays

Block time off on closed days, with exceptions such as sick or court, and notices a week ahead to everyone affected.

Flex days

Take a shift's hours off the week or pay period, so a training day doesn't turn into overtime.

Notices on the phone

Approved, denied, canceled, schedule changes and overtime awarded, sent to the officer's phone.

Open overtime and part-time jobs

Fill open shifts without a phone tree.

Post an open shift, split it into pieces if you like, and offer it only to officers who qualify.

  • Hours-in-a-row limits keep anyone from being offered a piece that would put them over your department's limit.
  • First come, or supervisor pick: let the first eligible officer take it, or choose from everyone who signed up.
  • Part-time jobs: ball games, events and other off-duty work, posted with slots and signed up for first come, first served. These hours stay out of agency pay and overtime.
  • On call: set who is on call and their phone number. The next person takes over on their start time, and every officer sees who to call.
